Sleddog School

Practising sport with your dog strengthens your relationship and creates a unique bond that is difficult to put into words.
Sleddog is sometimes viewed with suspicion by those unfamiliar with it, because the activity can be misrepresented as animal exploitation. Practising the discipline responsibly reveals how fulfilled these dogs can be when running on snow or along a trail beside their human companion—doing the work for which they were selected over centuries.
Pulling sports are especially suitable for sled-dog breeds, but can be practised in different forms by dogs of many breeds, provided their physical structure and health are suited to intense activity.
Sleddog is officially recognised as a sport by the Italian National Olympic Committee. It can be enjoyed recreationally or competitively through FIDASC events, on snow as well as on dry ground. Disciplines include canicross, bikejoring, skijoring, dog scootering and sleddog itself.
At our centre, Nicolò—an athlete on the Italian National Sleddog Team and a World Championship runner-up—teaches the discipline in a healthy, ethical and informed way. We also work with veterinarians and physiotherapists to support dogs beginning a competitive career.
